Haryana BPL Ration Card Update: Crackdown on Ineligible Beneficiaries
In a significant development, Haryana government is taking strict actions to address irregularities in Haryana BPL Ration Card distribution. After an increase in number of BPL card holders in Haryana, government is conducting surveys to identify and eliminate those who have obtained cards by dishonest means.
Survey Exposes Income Discrepancies
A recent survey conducted by the administration in Hisar has revealed that numerous individuals with annual family incomes ranging from ₹5 to ₹6 lakh are unlawfully benefiting from BPL cards. These individuals have manipulated their family identity cards (PPP) to show lower incomes, making them eligible for the scheme despite being financially well-off.
The administration is compiling block-wise lists and conducting on-the-spot investigations. Many families were found to possess multi-story homes and incomes exceeding ₹1.80 lakh annually, the ceiling for BPL card eligibility. By understating their income in PPP, these affluent individuals are unjustly accessing government resources.
Following the survey, a detailed list of such individuals has been submitted to Food and Supply Department. A thorough verification process will be conducted, and subsequent actions will be initiated by the department.
Cancellation of BPL Cards for Ineligible Individuals
Hisar ADC C. Jayashradha recently convened a meeting with CSC operators across the district, emphasizing the importance of ethical conduct. It was found that some operators were complicit in reducing individuals’ incomes in PPP upon request.
This month alone, over 30 individuals were identified as ineligible for BPL cards. Despite their ineligibility, many are exploiting the government scheme by using forged documents. Authorities will take strict action against these individuals, including cancellation of their BPL cards.
Benefits for Genuine BPL Card Holders
Under current Haryana government scheme, genuine BPL card holders are entitled to receive free wheat, mustard oil, and other essential commodities per member each month. Additionally, they can access various other government schemes and benefits easily.
To qualify for a BPL card, the government has set specific criteria, including an annual income threshold of less than ₹1.80 lakh. Unfortunately, many people are fraudulently misrepresenting their income to exploit BPL benefits, driven by greed.
The government has committed to eliminate these irregularities and ensure that benefits reach only those who truly qualify, ensuring that resources are allocated fairly and effectively.
