Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has made a significant announcement that will benefit 1.18 crore women in Odisha. This initiative aims to empower women by providing them with financial assistance.

The event took place in Ambapua, Berhampur, where the second instalment of the scheme was officially disbursed. Each of these 1.18 crore women received Rs 5,000, following a similar disbursement that occurred in five different phases over the past seven months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Subhadra Yojana on September 17, 2024, marking his birthday with a gift to the women of Odisha. Since its launch, significant strides have been made. Recently, the state government allocated Rs 117 crore to 2.30 lakh new beneficiaries in the fifth phase of the first instalment.

Understanding Subhadra Yojana

The Subhadra Yojana is primarily designed for women aged between 21 and 60 years. Its objective is to provide a total financial assistance of Rs 50,000 spread over five years, from 2024-2025 to 2028-2029. This financial support aims to help women become financially independent and self-reliant.

Over the course of five years, the state government plans to invest an impressive Rs 55,825 crore into this scheme. For the fiscal year of 2025-26, an allocation of Rs 10,145 crore has already been earmarked to continue supporting these beneficiaries.

Future Disbursements

The excitement does not end here, as plans are in place for the third instalment of the Subhadra Yojana, which will also be credited directly into the accounts of women beneficiaries during the upcoming Raksha Bandhan festival. This will ensure that women continue to receive crucial financial support during significant cultural events.
