Under the Matritva Vandana Yojana UP, the state government offers financial aid to both pregnant and lactating women. Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this program is gaining momentum and helping millions of women throughout the state.
Key Benefits of PM Matru Vandana Yojana
Pregnant women can avail significant financial support as follows:
- First confinement offers ₹5,000 in two installments.
- For the second confinement, if a girl child is born, a lump sum of ₹6,000 is provided.
As of recent updates, more than 4,05,379 women have received ₹135.31 crore in total through this scheme. The National Health Mission (NHM) transferred ₹275.16 crore to the ICDS department’s account for smoother fund disbursement directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system starting from January 22, 2025.
Administrative Efficiency
To ensure the effective implementation of the scheme, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has instructed district officials to review pending cases promptly. Currently, there are 31,436 cases awaiting resolution, which include:
- Supervisor level: 23,694 cases
- CDPO (SO) level: 7,411 cases
- SNO level: 321 cases
The administration has been directed to ensure that no eligible woman remains deprived of the scheme benefits, affirming the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to enhancing maternal and infant health.
