- Ramai Awas Yojana aims to provide housing for marginalized communities.
- Only 670 beneficiaries have been identified in Solapur, with just 19 days left to meet the housing target.
- Authorities are taking urgent steps to reach the goal of over 2,500 homes by the financial year-end.
What is Ramai Awas Yojana
Ramai Awas Yojana is an initiative by the Maharashtra Government aimed at providing affordable housing to the Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities in the state. As part of this scheme, Solapur district has been allotted a target of constructing over 2,500 housing units. However, with only 670 beneficiaries registered so far, there is a pressing urgency as the financial year concludes in just 19 days.
Current Status of Beneficiaries
As of now, the assistant commissioner’s office has received a limited number of applications from various blocks within Solapur. The breakdown is as follows:
- Barshi: 85 beneficiaries
- Mohol: 35 beneficiaries
- North Solapur: 38 beneficiaries
- South Solapur: 152 beneficiaries
This totals 310 eligible beneficiaries identified, emphasizing the need for immediate action. The Social Welfare Department is working hard to encourage more applications and meet the housing goal.
Approval Process for Beneficiaries
Beneficiary lists are confirmed during district-level housing committee meetings presided over by the guardian minister. The expected approval for the currently identified beneficiaries will be finalized by the end of March. Nevertheless, it is crucial to boost this number significantly over the next few weeks.
In an effort to expedite the process, the Assistant Commissioner, Sulochana Sonawane, has instructed local rural development authorities to send the lists of eligible beneficiaries by March 6. As a result, beneficiary counts have increased to 670.
Goals for Housing Construction
Efforts will continue to ensure that the remaining housing targets are met. Meetings with stakeholders will be convened to facilitate discussions aimed at improving the participation of potential beneficiaries.
The breakdown of housing targets indicates significant allocations for rural and urban regions:
Sector | Target (Houses) | Pending Target |
---|---|---|
Rural Area | 2,651 | 868 |
Municipal Area | 5,273 | 2,753 |
As March unfolds, it is essential for eligible beneficiaries to act swiftly and secure their applications. The Ramai Awas Yojana is paving the way to provide much-needed housing solutions for the targeted communities, and every effort is being made to ensure these goals are met within the stipulated timeline.
