  • Phase-II distribution of Antyodaya Gruha Yojana houses set for September 17, PM Modi’s 75th birthday.
  • Over five lakh houses planned in Odisha with Rs 2,600 crore budget for this year and Rs 7,550 crore for the next three years.
  • Scheme focuses on the poorest, PwDs, widows, cancer patients, calamity victims, and Forest Rights Act beneficiaries.

Odisha government is set to roll out the second phase of the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. The scheme is aimed at providing housing support to the most vulnerable sections of society, including the poorest of the poor, persons with disabilities, widows, and other needy groups.

The initiative works in convergence with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) to ensure that all eligible households are covered and provided with proper housing facilities.

Phase-II Distribution of Antyodaya Gruha Yojana Houses on PM Modi’s Birthday

On September 17, Odisha will take an important step by giving work orders to more beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana (AGY). This event is not just a tribute to PM Modi’s birthday but also a move forward in the government’s promise to provide housing for all. The distribution will allow thousands of eligible families to start building their new homes, bringing hope and stability.

Odisha’s government has big plans to build over five lakh houses under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana in the next three years. For this year alone, a budget of Rs 2,600 crore has been set aside. Also, Rs 7,550 crore will be provided over the next three years to support this large housing effort. This financial commitment shows the state’s focus on improving living conditions for its vulnerable citizens.

Antyodaya Gruha Yojana – Eligibility

  • The AGY focuses on the poorest of the poor who were left out of earlier priority lists.
  • This includes economically weaker sections, persons with disabilities (PwDs), widows, cancer patients, people with serious illnesses, victims of natural or man-made disasters, and beneficiaries under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).
  • The scheme ensures that housing assistance reaches the most vulnerable groups who need it the most.

How to Apply Antyodaya Gruha Yojana

  1. Submission of Applications – Beneficiaries apply for housing assistance under AGY and PMAY-G through a simplified application process at the local level.
  2. Verification of Applications – Authorities verify the details of applicants to confirm eligibility.
  3. Issuance of Work Orders – Once verified, work orders are issued to the beneficiaries, enabling them to begin construction of their houses.
  4. Implementation in Phases
    • In Phase-I, around 60,000 work orders were distributed during the scheme’s launch on May 30 at Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi district.
    • In Phase-II, more eligible households will receive work orders on September 17.
  5. Organized Rollout – This step-by-step, phased approach ensures the process remains transparent, systematic, and efficient.

Working Together with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G)

Antyodaya Gruha Yojana works alongside the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) by covering those left out in earlier lists. Odisha has received nearly 37.90 lakh applications under PMAY-G, and the government plans to cover all eligible households through a combined phased approach of both schemes. This teamwork increases the reach and makes sure no deserving family is left out.
