Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission has mobilized over 10 crore rural women into SHGs, boosting rural incomes and livelihoods.

  • Over 10 crore rural women brought together into 90.90 lakh Self-Help Groups under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana.
  • 4.62 crore MahilaKisans supported with eco-friendly farming methods and integrated farming clusters.
  • Non-farm micro-enterprises promoted with 4.87 lakh enterprises supported and 3 lakh community resource persons involved.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) has reached an important milestone in helping rural women across India. This key scheme focuses on bringing rural women into Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and improving their livelihoods through farming and non-farming activities. With over 10 crore women organized and wide support given to MahilaKisans, DAY-NRLM is changing rural economies and increasing household incomes.

Bringing Rural Women into Self-Help Groups

One of the main goals of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana is to organize rural women into SHGs to boost their economic involvement. As of June 2025, more than 10.05 crore women have been brought together into 90.90 lakh SHGs across all States and Union Territories except Delhi and Chandigarh. This large mobilization has created a strong network of women entrepreneurs and community leaders, helping them get access to credit, training, and market opportunities.

Helping MahilaKisans through Farming Initiatives

DAY-NRLM supports women farmers, called MahilaKisans, by promoting sustainable eco-friendly farming methods. These include better livestock management and integrated farming clusters that help lower cultivation costs, increase production, and build strength against climate challenges. As of June 2025, 4.62 crore MahilaKisans have benefited from these efforts.

Support for Non-Farm Livelihoods and Enterprise Growth

Beyond farming, the scheme encourages SHG members and their families to start micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector. This support includes training, financial help, and business development services. A dedicated group of Community Resource Persons for Enterprise Promotion (CRP-EP) helps women find business ideas, prepare plans, get loans, and market their products. So far, 4.87 lakh enterprises have been supported under this part.

Role of Community Resource Persons in Improving Livelihoods

Community Resource Persons (CRPs) play a key role in the success of DAY-NRLM. Over 3 lakh trained CRPs have been involved to assist MahilaKisans and SHG members in farming techniques, enterprise growth, and market connections. Their guidance makes sure women get timely support and skill-building to keep and grow their livelihoods.
