In a landmark announcement for women and girls, the Rajasthan government has unveiled significant enhancements to the Lado Protsahan Yojana. During the Holi festival, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma declared that the savings bond amount under this scheme will now be raised from ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh. This initiative aims to empower daughters financially and secure their education and future.
Additionally, women excelling under the scheme will be recognized as ‘Lakhpati Didi’, ‘Drone Didi’, ‘Solar Didi’, ‘Bank Sakhi’, ‘Krishi Sakhi’, and ‘Pashu Sakhi’. As part of this initiative, they will also be provided with tablets to improve their operational efficiency.
Key Features of the Lado Protsahan Yojana
The Lado Protsahan Yojana was highlighted during the discussion of the 2025-26 budget by the Chief Minister, who made several important announcements focused on women’s empowerment. Under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, loans will be available at a mere interest rate of 1.5%. This is a substantial support system for women looking to enhance their financial stability.
Enhancements in Nutrition
Furthermore, keeping children’s nutrition in mind, the Chief Minister announced an increase in the quantity of milk provided at Anganwadi centers from 15 grams to 25 grams per packet. This will ensure that malnourished children receive additional nutrition to improve their health.
Eligibility and Benefits of the Scheme
Lado Protsahan Yojana is available to girls studying in both government and private schools across Rajasthan, making it accessible to all castes and communities. The financial assistance will be disbursed in seven installments. It is crucial that the first two installments are collected as the remaining installments cannot be availed otherwise.
The government emphasizes that this scheme serves to encourage the birth of daughters and places special focus on their education and health. The initiative provides financial support from the birth of daughters all the way through their higher education, alleviating the economic burden on poor and underprivileged families.
Notable Changes and Updates
Previously, in December 2024, the Bhajanlal government increased the amount given to daughters under this scheme, doubling it from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. Following this, the amount has been further increased to ₹1.5 lakh, marking a significant progression towards ensuring the future welfare of daughters from economically weaker households.
The scheme was initially presented in the budget by Finance Minister Diya Kumari, aiming to distribute savings bonds worth ₹1 lakh to the daughters of impoverished families. With the new increment, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has taken a substantial step forward in securing the futures of daughters in Rajasthan.
