Why Were 26.34 Lakh Beneficiaries Temporarily Suspended?
After a detailed verification by the Department of Women and Child Development using information from different government departments, it was found that some people were wrongly getting benefits. Some families had multiple beneficiaries, some men applied, and others got help from multiple schemes at the same time.
Because of this, benefits were temporarily suspended for about 26.34 lakh beneficiaries starting June 2025. Meanwhile, around 2.25 crore eligible women continued to get their payments for the month.
How Are Suspended Accounts Being Checked and Reinstated?
District collectors are checking suspended accounts. They will confirm who is eligible and restart the Rs 1,500 monthly payments for those who qualify. This process makes sure the right applicants keep benefiting without break, while stopping misuse.
What Happens If False Claims Are Found?
Those who gave false information or wrongly claimed benefits may face penalties from the Maharashtra government. Officials are discussing with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to finalize these steps.
If you or someone you know has had payments suspended, it’s best to stay in touch with your district collector’s office for updates on the verification and reinstatement process.
