Maharashtra government has introduced the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Yojana to boost the income of eligible farmers under the Prime Minister Kisan scheme. This scheme provides financial assistance to farmers to help them meet their expenses and improve their livelihoods. Currently, farmers receive ₹6,000 through this scheme, distributed in five installments, summing up to ₹12,000 annually. However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a potential increase of ₹3,000, which would raise the total annual support to ₹15,000.
How Much Do Farmers Receive from Namo Shetkari?
The economic survey of Maharashtra presented recently reveals that the state has been implementing this assistance scheme since 2023-24. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive an annual assistance of ₹6,000 in three equal installments through direct benefit transfer. By October 2024, approximately 91.45 lakh farmer families had benefits deposited into their bank accounts totaling ₹9,055.83 crore.

Recently, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis indicated that the funds for the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Yojana would see an enhancement. What is the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme?
The Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme was initiated by the central government in 2018-19 to support small and marginal farmers. The scheme provides ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments through direct benefit transfer. As of October 2024, a total of ₹33,468.55 crore had been credited to the accounts of 117.55 lakh beneficiaries in Maharashtra who have been enrolled since the beginning of the scheme.
For farmers who have been benefiting from the PM-Kisan scheme since inception, a total of ₹38,000 has been received through 19 installments.
