State government has announced Pik Vima Yojana Maharashtra 2025 for the upcoming Kharif season with important reforms. The official decision was published on 24th June 2025. Farmers can apply for this scheme until 31st July 2025, with new rules aimed at improving benefits and curbing misuse.

Key Changes in Pik Vima Yojana Maharashtra 2025

1. Premium Payments Revised – One Rupee Scheme Ended

Earlier, farmers availed insurance coverage under a subsidised “1 Rupee Pik Vima Scheme” during the 2023 Kharif season. This scheme has now been discontinued. Farmers must pay the following premiums based on the insured amount:

  • Kharif season: 2% of insured sum
  • Rabi season: 1.5% of insured sum
  • Cash crops (both seasons): 5% of insured sum

This change calls for better financial planning from farmers.

2. Claim Payments Based Only on Crop Cutting Experiment

Previously, farmers could claim compensation based on four triggers: local natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, post-harvest damage and crop cutting experiments. Now, only the data from crop cutting experiments will be used for claim settlements. This approach aims for more accurate, data-driven, and transparent claim processing.

3. Mandatory Farmer ID and E-Crop Registration

To participate in the scheme, farmers must have a Farmer ID issued under the central government’s AgriStack program. Additionally, e-crop registration through official crop inspection is compulsory. Only crops registered officially will be insured, ensuring authenticity and transparency.

4. Appointment of Only Two Insurance Companies

For the 2025 Kharif season, only two insurance companies have been authorized to operate:

  • ICICI Lombard General Insurance for Dharashiv, Latur, and Beed districts
  • Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) for all other districts

This measure simplifies claim procedures and strengthens the organization of insurance delivery.

5. Strict Action Against Fraudulent Insurance Claims

The government has detected millions of fake insurance applications in earlier schemes. To protect genuine beneficiaries, strong measures have been introduced:

  • Farmers found involved in fake claims will have their Aadhaar number blacklisted for 5 years.
  • Such farmers will also be barred from availing any government schemes for 5 years.

This step is intended to prevent misuse and ensure that the crop insurance scheme reaches farmers who truly need support.
