Key Features of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana Rooftop Solar Tender
SJVN Limited has invited bids under a Request for Selection (RfS) with number SJVN/RTS/2025-26/Rooftop Solar-19 to carry out rooftop solar projects with a total capacity of 1400 kW. These solar power systems will be set up on government buildings of ministries such as Agriculture, Commerce, Consumer Affairs, and others. The scheme covers special category states including Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The projects will be developed on a grid-connected basis without battery storage. The RESCO/PPA mode (Renewable Energy Service Company/Power Purchase Agreement) will be used, letting bidders compete through tariff-based bidding to supply solar energy to the government offices involved.
Scope and Objectives of the Rooftop Solar Projects
This tender under PM Surya Ghar Yojana aims to power government buildings using renewable solar energy, reducing the carbon footprint and dependence on conventional electricity sources. The focus is on rooftops of government offices managed by different ministries to ensure sustainable energy use in administrative buildings.
The special category states and UTs selected for this tender are often in difficult terrains, making local solar power generation especially useful. The goal is to produce clean electricity right where it’s needed, improving energy security and cutting down transmission losses.
