Announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the 2024-25 Union Budget, PMIS is designed to provide young Indians a chance to work with top 500 companies across India. Selected candidates will receive hands-on experience to enhance skills and prepare for future career opportunities.
Key Benefits of Prime Minister Internship Scheme for Youth
- Duration: 12 months internship.
- Stipend: ₹5,000 monthly, out of which ₹4,500 is directly credited by the Central Government to the Aadhaar-linked bank account; ₹500 depends on attendance and performance.
- Joining amount: A one-time payment of ₹6,000 is given at the start of the internship.
Who is Eligible to Apply for PMIS?
- Must be an Indian citizen aged between 21 to 24 years as on 22 April 2025.
- Should have completed SSC, HSC, ITI, Diploma or Graduation (courses like BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, BPharma etc.).
- Applicants must not be enrolled in full-time jobs or full-time studies (distance or online educational courses qualify).
Step-by-Step Application Process for PMIS
- Visit the official website: www.pminternship.mc.gov.in
- Select preferred language and click on ‘Youth Registration’.
- Enter your 10-digit Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- Submit the OTP sent to your number.
- Create a password to access your dashboard.
- Complete your profile under ‘My Current Status’ tab.
- Complete the mandatory eKYC process using Aadhaar details.
Note that without completing the profile and successful eKYC verification, applications for internships will not be accepted. Candidates are advised to complete their application well before the deadline.
