  • ₹145 crore approved for development in Tiger Reserve buffer zones.

Madhya Pradesh government has made key updates to the Kanya Vivah Yojana that aims to provide better support to financially weaker sections and introduce transparency in beneficiary selection. These amendments were approved recently in the state ministerial council meeting.

New Updates in Kanya Vivah Yojana Madhya Pradesh

Under the revised Kanya Vivah Yojana, now only those brides and their guardians who fall below the poverty line (BPL) are eligible to receive benefits. The poverty status verification will be carried out through the official BPL portal to ensure only deserving families avail the scheme.

Collective marriage programs and nikah ceremonies will be organized following a divisional annual calendar. These group events will host a minimum of 11 and up to 200 couples, encouraging community participation while optimizing the budget utilization.

The application screening will be conducted at the local administrative level, where stringent verification procedures such as Aadhaar-based e-KYC and cross-checking on the Samagra portal will be mandatory for both bride and groom. This will help maintain authenticity and cut down cases of fraud.

The scheme also encourages involvement of elected representatives, social organizations, and capable individuals from the community to support and enhance the collective marriages.

Financial Benefits and Disbursement Process

  • Each bride enrolled in the scheme will receive a total financial aid of ₹55,000.
  • ₹49,000 will be directly credited to the bride’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for personal use.
  • The remaining ₹6,000 will be allotted to the concerned local body to manage the wedding ceremonies ensuring smooth execution of the group event.
